Another week has past and another instalment of captains questions is ready for the DAGLFC site. This week Ellie is reflecting on last weekends game against Dundee City West and this weekends upcoming game against Westdyke.
Q: What are your thoughts of last Sundays game against Dundee City West, what areas did you think the ladies played well or maybe could’ve done more.
A: As a team we didn’t get the result we wanted to start off the league. There is
definitely positives to take away from the match. As a team we worked together and created plenty of chances on goal, many from build up play from defence. I felt the girls communicated and motivated each other throughout the game. There is also aspects that need to be looked at and improved. But as a team with feedback, guidance, and advice from our coaches we will make the improvements to enable us to put our best foot forward for the next game.
Q: How do you think the ladies can improve and bounce back before this Sunday’s home game against Westdyke.
A: To bounce back from Sunday’s game the team will come together and re group. Training will be a time used to discuss further and work on all aspects of the game that need to be better for the future. With the coaching team we have behind us, and the experience they have, the team has a solid foundation to get support and advice to set us in the right direction for future league games.
Q: What are your thoughts personally going into this weekends game against Westdyke.
A: I am still positive heading into Sunday’s game against Westdyke. I have complete confidence in all the girls, there is so much talent in the squad. Sunday’s game presents the opportunity to bounce back, take our coaches guidance, make the improvements, and get the result we want.
Q: How did you find captaining the team in your first competitive game
A: Captaining the team is an honour. Despite the scoreline, I am proud of all the girls that stepped foot on the pitch for fighting till the end and giving it everything they had - it just wasn’t our day. For me, it’s all about the come back.
